About Sting
Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, better known as Sting, was born on October 2, 1951, in Wallsend, England. He grew up in a working-class family and showed a strong interest in music from a young age, especially guitar and bass. His first serious musical experiences were with local jazz and rock bands before he formed the band The Police in 1977. The Police quickly gained global popularity with their blend of rock, reggae, and new wave, producing hits such as "Roxanne," "Every Breath You Take," and "Message in a Bottle." The band left a lasting mark on the music industry, and Sting became recognized for his distinctive voice, songwriting talent, and stage presence. After The Police disbanded in 1986, Sting launched a successful solo career. Albums such as The Dream of the Blue Turtles, …Nothing Like the Sun, and Ten Summoner’s Tales demonstrate his versatility and ability to blend different musical styles, from rock and jazz to pop and world music. His songs often explore themes of love, society, and personal experience.
